In "sever", the unicorn horn, a Christian symbol of innocence, purity, and chastity and the artist's symbol of imagination, childhood, and sexual discovery, has been severed from the body. It is placed here, atop an altar, as a homeage to the journey through childhood and the eventual, exhausted surrender to the unattainable ideal of purity and perfection and a life impossible.
